Home and Everyday Things in Polish

These are the 15 words for home and everyday things that the Jasny Polski course teaches first — the ones that turn up in your first real conversations. Each comes with a sentence, so you can see how the word behaves rather than only what it means.

How to use these words

These words are a clean lesson in gender, because the ending gives it away: a consonant means masculine (dom, telefon, komputer), -a feminine (lampa, książka, gazeta), -o neuter (okno, piętro). That is why it is ten telefon, ta lampa, to okno.

Where you live takes the locative after w or na: Mieszkam w domu, Mieszkam na drugim piętrze.
