Colours in Polish

These are the 6 words for colours that the Jasny Polski course teaches first — the ones that turn up in your first real conversations. Each comes with a sentence, so you can see how the word behaves rather than only what it means.

How to use these words

Polish colours are adjectives, so each one has three endings for the three genders. Czerwony telefon, czerwona lampa, czerwone jabłko; and with -i: niebieski, niebieska, niebieskie. The form in a dictionary, and in this table, is the masculine one.

The question is Jaki to kolor? — what colour is it? In the plural, things of any gender share one form: czerwone jabłka, czerwone lampy.
