Drinks in Polish

These are the 8 words for drinks that the Jasny Polski course teaches first — the ones that turn up in your first real conversations. Each comes with a sentence, so you can see how the word behaves rather than only what it means.

How to use these words

Ordering a drink is the most common sentence you will build with these words, and the ending tells you the gender. Kawa, herbata and woda are feminine, so they become kawę, herbatę and wodę: Poproszę kawę. Sok is masculine and wino, piwo and mleko are neuter, so they don't change: Poproszę sok.

Na zdrowie! is what Poles say when they raise a glass — and also when someone sneezes.
